Former Arsenal star Theo Walcott urges striker, Max Dowman to reject England call-up for the World Cup

Theo Walcott has said he hopes teenage star Max Dowman is not selected for Englands World Cup squad, despite growing hype around the youngster.Dowman, 16, recently made headlines after becoming the youngest Premier League goalscorer, boosting his reputation as one of Englands brightest prospects.Thomas Tuchel has not ruled out including the Arsenal midfielder in his squad, saying: We always have the chance to call him maybe, up for the World Cup. He added: Everyone who tells me about Max praises him hes in a fantastic environment.However, Walcott who experienced a similar situation when he was selected for the 2006 World Cup at just 17, believes Dowman should not be rushed into international football. He said: I hope he doesnt go. Reflecting on his own experience, Walcott admitted: If I could go back in time, I would change things I would say to myself, no, no, dont do it. The former Arsenal forward stressed that Dowman should develop gradually, particularly on a personal level.He said: He needs to grow at his own pace, especially on the emotional side because hes a young adult.
