Samsung’s Privacy Display on the Galaxy S26 Ultra may be hurting image quality (Updated)

  • Samsung introduced a new Privacy Display system with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, limiting viewing angles.

  • Hands-on experiences with the new panel report issues with image quality and color reproduction.

  • The negative effect is apparent even when Privacy Display isn’t active.



Update: March 4, 2026 (10:25 AM ET): Here’s another great pair of photos for comparison, shared by Roland Quandt on Blue Sky:



Ignoring the moiré effect in both images, we can observe a brighter screen with Privacy Display turned off, and the S26 Ultra utilizing all available pixels. With Privacy Display turned on, the image looks much darker.
