Snow White live-action has officially landed on Disney+

From the very beginning, the live-action version of the beloved Snow White animation was surrounded by controversies.

Some pointed out that the original tale presents outdated concepts like the damsel in distress trope. Others, like Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage, called the tale a “backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together”. Eventually, the seven magical creatures were computer-generated, but it didn’t calm the critics. Many viewers considered the CGI characters as fake and grotesque, while some members of the dwarfism and little people community perceived it as taking away their acting jobs.

Adding fuel to the fire were prejudiced comments on social media surrounding the casting of Colombian descent actress Rachel Zegler as the lead role.

Despite all of that, is Snow White worth a watch? Here’s how to watch the film from the comfort of your own home.

When will Snow White be released on VOD?

Snow White is now available on digital in the US and UK.

In the United Kingdom, the film is available for rental and purchase on Amazon UK and Apple TV.

In the States, you can rent or buy Snow White on Amazon US, Fandango at Home, Apple TV and Microsoft Store.

The film hit VOD after only 46 days, earlier than many Disney films. Mufasa: The Lion King, Disney’s most recent live-action remake, became available for purchase and rental 60 days after its cinematic debut, while Moana 2 hit VOD after 62 days. Of course, both films were box-office hits, while Snow White was panned by critics and audiences alike.

When will Snow White be released on streaming services?

Snow White is streaming now on Disney+.

The Rachel Zegler-led film premiered on the service much earlier than expected. Disney most likely rushed the streaming release due to Snow White’s disappointing box-office performance. Although the film grossed over $205.5 million worldwide, the profit was less than predicted.

When will Snow White be released on DVD/Blu-ray?

According to Amazon’s website, Snow White will hit DVD and Blu-ray in the UK on Monday, 30 June 2025. Copies are available for pre-order on Amazon.

In America, the physical copies of the film will arrive in stores on Tuesday, 24 June 2025. You can now pre-order the movie on Amazon US.
