According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple saw an 18.7% year-on-year increase for its iPhone shipment in China. The report’s data was gathered from the China Academy of Information and Communication Technology (CAICT) and reveals that the iPhone maker managed to sell an estimated 3.18 million units of its smartphones. Previously, Apple saw a 6% YoY growth in China for the September and October periods.

iPhone shipments in China grew by over 18% in December
China is Apple’s second-biggest market after the US and despite overall slumping smartphone sales in the region, Cupertino managed to turn things around just before the Chinese holiday season. According to the sales figures, the iPhone 11 was the main driver of the rising shipment figures.

The report also showed a total of 389 million smartphone shipments in China for 2019, 13 million of which were 5G-capable. Looking ahead, Apple’s iPhone shipments are expected to drop with the increase of 5G-available devices from competitors. The first iPhones to support the next-gen network are expected in the Fall period.
