Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has said Nigerians have the right to defend themselves against Boko Haram insurgents since the federal government has failed to overwhelm them especially in the North-east.

The former vice-president, who spoke with journalists shortly after the 10th anniversary and founder?s day of America University of Nigeria (AUN) in Yola at the weekend, criticised the attitude of the government in the handling of the insurgency.
