One k!lled, houses burnt as suspected militia attack community in Benue

Suspected militia members have attacked a community in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, k!lling one person and destroying several houses before fleeing the scene. According to reports, troops operating in Sector 1, alongside personnel of the Benue State Civil Protection Guards, responded to a distress call at about 8:30 a.m. on June 4 regarding an attack on residents of Mbasa community in Utange Council Ward of the local government area. The security team swiftly mobilised to the affected area but discovered on arrival that the attackers had already fled. A preliminary assessment of the incident revealed that one resident was k!lled during the attack, while several houses were set ablaze by the assailants. Security personnel also recovered two empty cartridges of 7.62mm special ammunition at the scene, indicating that firearms were used during the attack. The body of the deceased was subsequently evacuated by family members for burial in accordance with local customs. Military authorities said efforts were ongoing to track down those responsible for the attack, while security presence had been reinforced in the area to prevent further violence and reassure residents. The post One k!lled, houses burnt as suspected militia attack community in Benue appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
