Kantar Worldpanel has just posted a new report on the smartphone sales in three regions based on device operating systems. The report focused on the US, Australia, and five main markets in Europe, namely Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.
The report shows that year-on-year sales for iOS in the three regions have grown in the three-month period ending July 2016. By contrast, Android recorded a year-on-year decline in sales of 0.6% from 65%. The data is quite interesting, given the fact that Apple is expected to release its newest iPhone device this week.

The numbers show that the iPhone SE has generated quite strong sales for Apple, considering that iOS accounted for 31.3% of smartphone sales in the three-month timeframe ending July 2016. Moreover, sales grew by 1.2% compared to the same months of last year.

iOS saw sales growth in Great Britain and the US
The iPhone 6s is approaching the end of its expected lifecycle, but it remains the sixth best-selling handset in the US, accounting for 4.1% of all smartphone sales in the past few months. The device's share on the market is 11%, and it's not expected to drop, considering that the upcoming iPhone will also mean price reductions for the iPhone 6s, making it accessible to even more consumers.

iOS experienced sales growth in other markets as well. In Great Britain, iOS saw a 5.2% increase compared to last year, and it accounted for 38% of smartphone sales in the analyzed period of time. The report mentions that it's the strongest growth since the three-month period ending September 2015.

But iOS is followed closely by Android when it comes to sales growth, Android OS posted 57.3% smartphone sales, up from 54.4% in the past year. During the three-month period ending June 2016, iOS grew in EU but experienced slight losses in Italy and Spain after reporting increases to 12.7% and 9.2%, respectively, during the 90 days ending July. Windows recorded the largest decline in sales, making up 2.4% of the market in the US and 4.3% in Great Britain. BlackBerry sits comfortably at 0.4% in the US and Great Britain.
