Samsung is one of the biggest smartphone manufacturers in the world, and this is partly because the South Korean company constantly tries to reinvent features on its products so that they can stand out on the market. This time, Samsung is said to implement a new notification system on upcoming handsets.
Sources from GalaxyClub show that the company is currently working on introducing the Smart Glow feature on an upcoming smartphone, which is an alternative to the notification LED on Samsung devices.

Smart Glow is basically an illuminated ring placed around the camera lens on the back of the phone, which lights up when notifications come up on the device’s display. Such notification features are quite useful since they can save battery in the long run and alert the user when there’s information that they need to check out.

Moreover, Smart Glow will come with an option that allows users to adjust the priority of alerts regarding incoming messages or calls, usage, battery status, and much more. The ring can also illuminate in various colors, depending on the type of the alert, and users will be able to adjust this aspect.

Smart Glow will snap selfies with the rear camera
Aside from that, Samsung’s Smart Glow will reportedly allow users to snap selfies with the rear camera, which is quite interesting. The illuminated ring will be able to detect the user’s face and take selfies.

Samsung might introduce the Smart Glow feature in the upcoming Galaxy J2 (2016), set to launch in India. However, it would seem more fitting for the company to incorporate the feature on the upcoming Galaxy Note 7, projected to debut on August 2. If Samsung makes such a move, it would turn the Galaxy Note 7 into a truly impressive handset, iris scanner and other powerful specs aside.
