Arsenal are prepared to beat Liverpool to the services of Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze. The German international has been strongly tipped to leave the Bavarian giants this summer.
The Sun reports that manager Arsene Wenger is looking to add a forward-minded midfielder to his ranks as he bids to turn his side into title challengers ahead of the new campaign.

Gotze has emerged as the new option for the Gunners with Borussia Dortmund reluctant to offload top target Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool have been pulling the strings for the World Cup winner in recent weeks, but the Gunners are confident of splashing the cash to pursue the hard-working attacker.

The 24-year-old earned a place with his national side for Euro 2016 despite a poor run in the Bundesliga last term.
