Android users rejoice as Facebook has just announced it will bring a new feature that many have been waiting for: live video streaming.

When Facebook brought live video streaming to iOS platform, it didn't say when Android users would get the feature. The good news is the social network giant has been pretty fast in deploying this functionality on Android devices.

?Live videos on Facebook are authentic and exciting, and we?re seeing people tuning in and engaging directly with broadcasters in the moment.

?In fact, we?ve seen that on average people watch a live video more than three times longer when it is live compared to when it is not live,? writes Vadim Lavrusik, product manager at Facebook, in a blog post.

Last month, when the functionality went live on iOS devices, Facebook promised to bring the ability to broadcast live to countries around the world, but for the time being the feature is only available in about 30 countries.

But there's hope for the rest of the world as Facebook announced it would continue to roll out this feature to more people as well as Pages in countries around the world in the coming weeks.

Only available in the US at launch
As for Android users, Facebook announced that in the next week they would start rolling out the ability to share live video for this particular platform. At first, live video streaming will be available just in the United States, with more countries coming soon.

If you live in the United States and use Facebook often, you can share live video by simply tapping ?What's on your mind?? at the top of News Feed and select the Live Video icon that should be available once the new feature has been installed on your Android device.

Android users will also be able to find live videos from their friends and public figures they follow right in News Feed. Naturally, you can also subscribe to get notifications the next time the broadcaster goes live.
