An unidentified middle-aged man was Sunday, electrocuted in an attempt to steal an electric cable at a power installation point in Accra Crescent by LEA Primary School, Unguwar Rimi, Kaduna state.

According to the traditional ruler, ?Dan Iyar Unguwar Rimi? of the area, Alhaji Muhammad Gidado, ?The vandal is unknown in the area. The man tried to steal the 150mm four core up-riser cable at the distribution sub-station on Accra Crescent when he was electrocuted.?

He urged the law enforcement agencies to increase patrol in the area, adding that the community had suffered from activities of vandals lately. Gidado noted that the corpse of the vandal had been taken from the scene by policemen from the Unguwar Rimi division.

The Head, Corporate Communications of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, Mr. Abdulazeez Abdullahi, lamented that the activities of hoodlums were causing a setback to the company?s effort at providing steady power supply to its customers.

Abdullahi, however, appealed to customers of the company to be more vigilant and report suspicious movement around power supply installations to the police.

Meanwhile, the police said it was investigating the incident with a view to arresting the collaborators.
