Kano government threatens to prosecute youths involved in communal clash

The Kano State Government has issued a strong warning to youths engaged in violent activities, vowing that anyone found disrupting public peace will face the full weight of the law. This was made known by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services, Retired Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Ibrahim Umar, during a security assessment visit to Kurna Tudun Fulani, a known hotspot for unrest in Dala Local Government Area. Leading a delegation of security operatives and ministry officials, AVM Umar condemned the growing trend of youth-led violence in Kano communities. Describing the situation as dangerous and unacceptable, he declared: Let me be clear: anyone caught instigating violence or threatening the peace of our communities will be dealt with according to the law. The visit followed recent reports of escalating unrest in the area, including a communal clash that led to the death of a resident, Abba Saidu Mai Hula, and the destruction of several properties. AVM Umar emphasized the shared responsibility of security, calling on residents to play active roles in safeguarding their communities. The security issue is everyones responsibility. All hands must be on deck to safeguard the lives of citizens, he said. According to a statement issued by Muhammad Dahir, the ministrys Director of Public Relations and Enlightenment, the visit was prompted by credible intelligence indicating the presence of violent gangs that have been terrorising residents. The commissioner also noted that the administration of Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf is making concerted efforts to engage youths through skill acquisition programs aimed at reducing unemployment and curbing criminal behaviour. During the visit, the Ward Head of Kurna Tudun Fulani, Malam Usaini Ibrahim, appealed to the government for more concrete interventions. He proposed converting a local dumpsite into a police outpost, arguing that the presence of security personnel would serve as a deterrent to criminal elements. The commissioner, who was shown around the proposed site by community elders, pledged to relay the proposal to the appropriate authorities. The post Kano government threatens to prosecute youths involved in communal clash appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
