Police Nabbed two men for stealing 7 cars at Redemption Camp ogun state

The police in Ogun State have arrested two men for allegedly stealing seven cars at the Redemption Camp, along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway area of Ogun.

The suspects were identified by the command as Friday Ezi and Onyekachi Atama.

the duo are from Benin-City and Onitsha respectively.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the arrest  on Thursday.

Oyeyemi disclosed that the suspects were arrested after they were reported by one Titilayo Otitodogbon, whose Toyota Camry car was stolen on February 1, at the Redemption camp police station.

According to Oyeyemi, detectives had embarked on full scale forensic and technical investigation which yielded positive result when Ezi, who he said actually stole the car from redeemed Camp was traced to Edo State.

Ezi, it was reported, was apprehended on March 10, as he made a confessional statement that led the operatives to Onitsha in Anambra State, where his accomplice was also arrested on March 15.

He further explained that Atama was a motor park dealer at motor parts market in Onitsha who used to receive the stolen vehicles from Ezi.

Oyeyemi, in a release, stated that, “two men, Friday Ezi 43yrs of No. 5 Adesuah Iyamo Benin-City and Onyekachi Atama 27yrs of Akabigbo Street Ugwuagba Onitsha have been arrested by operatives of Ogun State Police Command for stealing up to seven vehicles belonging to different individuals at Redemption Camp during their various religious programs.”

The police spokesman hinted that preliminary investigation had revealed that the suspects stole up to seven different cars at the Camp but they confessed to have stolen only two  at different occasions.

He added that Onyekachi Atama, a spare parts dealer in Onitsha has confessed that once the vehicles were brought to him by Friday Ezi, he used to balkanize them and sell such vehicles in parts.
