Woman jailed for stealing goat to settle son’s hospital bill

A 30-year-old wowan, Sadiat Jimoh, has been sentenced to six-month imprisonment by an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court, for stealing goat.

Jimoh, was said to have committed the offence on January 5, 2020, at Agunbelewo area of Osogbo metropolis.

The prosecutor, ASP Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the accused person stole one she-goat, valued at N45,000, a property of one Fausat Adegboga.

Abiodun added that the offence committed contravenes section 516 and Section 390 cap 34 vol ll Law of Osun state 2002.

Meanwhile, counsel to the accused , Abimbola Ige, urged the court to temper justice with mercy , as the accused person informed the court that she committed the offence in order to raise money to pay the hospital bill of her son diagnosed with Hernia.

The Magistrate, Mr. Opeyemi Badmus, however, sentenced the accused person to six-month imprisonment at the Ilesa correctional centre.
