Arsenal have reportedly joined north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign midfielder Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid this summer.

Ceballos struggled for regular gametime during the backend of the previous campaign under Zinedine Zidane and it is suggested that he is not in the Frenchman's plans for the forthcoming season.

Spurs have recently been deemed to have held face-to-face discussions with the midfielder but according to AS, they could face direct competition from the Gunners to land his signature.

Ceballos is currently said to be eyeing only a temporary move away from the Bernabeu but reports indicate that Los Blancos prefer a permanent deal as they seek to recoup some funds after a £270m spending spree.

Los Blancos are said to demand around £45m for the ex-Real Betis man and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners are willing to match the asking price.

Arsenal are working on a limited £45m budget for the summer, although the kitty could be enhanced with the sale of unwanted players from the current squad.
