Arsenal Make Move to sign Atletico Madrid star

Arsenal are reportedly considering an approach for highly-rated Spanish midfielder Saul Niguez. The 23-year-old is currently in the ranks of Atletico Madrid for whom he has made nearly 200 appearances in all competitions.

According to AS, the Gunners have earmarked the Spaniard as one of their prime targets to reinforce their midfield, and they are prepared to test Atleti's resolve with a big-money offer during the summer.

Niguez, who spent part of his youth career with Real Madrid, has primarily featured for Atleti in a central midfield role, but he has also shown the versatility in the left-back and left-wing positions.

Arsenal are likely to release Santi Cazorla at the expiry of his contract in the summer, and his departure may coincide with the exit of Jack Wilshere, who has yet to pen an extension.

The England international has just two months left on his contract, and his reluctance to take a pay-cut could see him end his long-term association with the north London club.
