iPhone Browser Puffin Now Available on Windows

Puffin Web Browser, one of the top mobile browsers that manage to stay very close to big guys like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, is now available on Windows as well, promising a huge speed increase over the default Microsoft Edge.

At one point the top choice for users who wanted to view Flash content on their iPhones, Puffin has evolved to become a super-fast browser for both Android and iOS, using technology that allows it to substantially increase loading speed and also compress data at the same time.

Puffin uses cloud power to boost browsing speed, with all data encrypted and sent to Puffin servers before it’s sent back to your device while keeping local resource usage to a minimum level. The company guarantees all browsing sessions are then removed from their servers, so privacy is not at risk.

Still in beta stage on Windows
A video that was published by the developing company (via MSPU) shows Puffin can be no less than four times faster than Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 thanks to all these innovative features, though it’s also worth noting that it doesn’t feature the same advanced functionality as other browsers, like Google Chrome.

Puffin comes on Windows with support for an incognito mode, password manager, popup blocker, tab support, several search engines, and a bookmark manager, but it lacks extension support and themes.

At this point, the application is still in beta version and it works on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10, most likely with more features to be added in the coming updates. An official announcement regarding the release of Puffin on Windows is not yet available right now, but it’ll be interesting to see how many Microsoft Edge users would give up on the default browser for this new option.
