With the iPhone X almost here, it’s now Samsung’s turn to make the headlines with future models, and naturally, the Galaxy S9 plays a key role this time.

A new bunch of rumors coming from China suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will undergo a series of major changes, including several “borrowed” from rival Apple.

One of them is the removal of the headphone jack. First taking place on the iPhone 7 a year ago, ditching the 3.5mm audio connector was considered a decision that most manufacturers wouldn’t adopt, though new phone generations seem to contradict this. HTC already abandoned the headphone jack, Google did the same on the Pixel 2, and now Samsung could do it on upcoming Galaxy S9 as well.

Alleged specs of the Galaxy S9, though it’s worth emphasizing it’s too early to consider them entirely accurate, suggest that a more advanced facial recognition system is also likely, probably based on 3D sensing tech similar to the one on the iPhone X.

Samsung’s flagship models already offer facial recognition, but it turns out that the Galaxy S9 will embrace 3D sensors just like Apple, as changes concerning the fingerprint sensors are also on the table.
