This is the Garmin Cirqa (maybe)

Garmin’s rival to the Fitbit Air and Whoop band has been a long time coming, with various details about it leaked over the past few months. Now, finally, it seems as if Garmin has shown off the design of the Cirqa.

Update: A new set of Garmin Cirqa images has leaked, showing a more convincing look at the smart band.

It’s another one by accident, after last week’s sighting of the Cirqa smart band listed on an official Romanian support page. This time the device has been spotted in Garmin’s own app, complete with an image showing what it looks like.

This comes via an anonymous source via Garmin News, so should be taken with a pinch of salt (the site couldn’t reproduce the image). It was found while digging through the setup menus of the Garmin Connect IQ app.

The Cirqa appears by name when searched for, and for the first time, shows the smart band in a thumbnail.

It confirms what everyone has been thinking and hearing. The Garmin Cirqa will be a screenless fitness tracker with a similar design to the Fitbit Air.

The main difference seems to be that the module containing the sensors and battery, etc is on display, complete with a large Garmin logo, rather than hidden underneath a strap (though that could be possible with other straps).

It looks to be removable so you can charge it, as well as clean the strap or switch to another one. The strap itself looks like it’s made from silicone rubber or similar and has two textured areas on either side of the module, one with the Garmin triangle logo.

Price news and imminent release?

The Cirqa has been tipped for a July release date so we might not have long to wait for all the final details, but time is also running out for that to happen. 22 July is one tipped date, but this clashes with Samsung Unpacked, so would be a strange choice.

There’s also good news which has appeared online regarding the Cirqa’s price. A while ago, it was reported that it could be almost five times the price of the Fitbit Air, which costs £84.99/$99.

However, new information posted on Reddit suggests it could be a much more appetising £179/$199.
