Fitbit Air listing confirms India launch

The Fitbit Air has been one of the most talked about and hyped tech launches of 2026, which feels a little unusual for a cheap screenless fitness tracker, but the Google-owned brand still has serious clout and it was launched with the help of basketball star Steph Curry.

Overall, it’s been a successful launch for the Whoop rival with critical acclaim, though some early users had connectivity issues and those with smaller wrists aren’t getting on well with the one-size-fits-all strap.

A bigger issue in a different way is that the Fitbit Air is still not available in a key market… India.

Primarily, the band has been launched in countries such as the US, UK, Europe and Australia. This seems odd considering how much appetite the Indian market has for budget-friendly tech such as this.

Many fans are understandably disgruntled and won’t get things like a warranty if they choose to import a Fitbit Air from elsewhere.

Update: The Fitbit Air looks like it is one step closer to launching in India, courtesy of a BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification posted on Reddit. If correct, this effectively means it’s confirmed to be released in India. It doesn’t mention the device by name, but by its GW9C8 model number.

It’s expected to launch with a price around ₹12-14,000. More information on Google Health’s comments on the situation are below.

At first, it looked like it would hit shelves in India around the same time as other major markets, via one Reddit user’s chat with Google support. This didn’t materialise, but there is a glimmer of hope.

The official Google Health account (the replacement for the Fitbit app) has been replying to countless users on X who have been asking the question.

The statement says, “Thanks for waiting. We love seeing so much excitement for the new Fitbit Air. While we’re always working on new ways to help you live healthier, we don’t have an official launch date for India just yet. Keep an eye on our online store for updates.”

This implies the Fitbit Air will land in India; it’s just a case of when and not if and the issue may be related to stock levels, as we’ve seen it selling out at many retailers here in the UK.

Another reply (below) also suggests it’s just a matter of time:
