– The defence headquarters says the military would rely on precision aerial armaments in its bombing operations on Sambisa forest

– Defence spokesperson Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar says Boko Haram insurgents have been degraded by the counter terrorism operations

– Abubakar discloses that Operation SHARANDAJI would soon commence to contain the activities of cattle rustlers and mitigate herdsmen-farmers’ clashes

The defence headquarters says the Nigerian Army would continue the bombing of Boko Haram strong hold, Sambisa forest, in spite of the recent rescuing of 21 abducted the Chibok school girls and on-going negotiations to secure the freedom of the remaining girls.

Acting director for defence Information, Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar, who disclosed To the Sun in Abuja said the military would rely on precision aerial armaments in the operations to ensure that there was no collateral damage.

Gen. Abubakar said Boko Haram insurgents have been degraded by the counter terrorism operations, adding that no part of the country, however small, was under the control of terrorists.

“It’s possible that there may be areas where they have free movement but not free operation,”Abubakar stated.

The defence spokesperson said there were 14 military operations going on simultaneously across the country, adding that Operation SHARANDAJI would soon commence to contain the activities of cattle rustlers and mitigate herdsmen-farmers’ clashes.

He dismissed allegations of human rights abuses against the military, saying that their actions were always within operational directives and rules of engagement.

He urged Nigerians to always disregard sentiment and politics in matters of national security.

Abubakar called for a more harmonious relationship with the media, because of the strategic role it plays in the dissemination and management of information.

Recall that one of the rescued Chibok girls by the name Gloria urged the Nigerian Air Force should stop the bombardment of the Sambisa forest due to the safety of the remaining Chibok girls still being held by the insurgents.

She made the plea to the senate leader Ali Ndume when he paid a visit to the released girls.
