Police seal off ADC meeting venue in Cross River

Mobile police officers in Calabar on Tuesday, March 10, sealed off a venue scheduled for the inauguration of a membership registration, mobilisation and revalidation committee of the African Democratic Congress. The party had planned to inaugurate the committee ahead of its primaries at an event centre located along Marian Road by 10:00 a.m. on March 10, 2026. The committee, headed by Eko Alobo, was established to coordinate membership registration and mobilisation activities within the state. However, as early as 7:00 a.m., a team of armed police officers reportedly cordoned off the venue and prevented party members from entering the premises. Sources close to the security operatives said the officers were acting on orders to seal the location following a petition submitted by some members of the party.Attempts to resolve the situation at the venue were unsuccessful despite efforts by senior party figures. Among those involved in discussions with security authorities were the partys South-South Zonal Vice Chairman, Usani Uguru Usani, and Bassey Eko Ewa.The leaders reportedly held a meeting with the state Commissioner of Police in an effort to address the standoff. Following the development, the gathering was moved to the residence of Usani, where a large number of party supporters later assembled. The post Police seal off ADC meeting venue in Cross River appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
