Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has boasted people will call him "Mr Brexit" following the US election, referencing a rejection of the status quo by the general population.Trump commented following the EU referendum in the UK that he hoped the same thing would happen in America, in terms of people voting against the establishment and "taking their country back".

"I think it's a great thing that happened, an amazing vote, very historic. We're very happy," he told the Telegraph at the time, adding: "People are angry. All over the world they're angry."

"We're doing very well in the United States and essentially the same thing is happening in the United States," he stated.

"They are angry over borders, they are angry over people coming into the country and taking over and nobody even noticing. They are angry about many, many things."

His most recent Tweet on the subject stated: "They will soon be calling me MR. BREXIT!"

However, his comment provoked quite a reaction on Twitter, with some people questioning what he meant and others taking the opportunity to mock the GOP candidate.

On Twitter user posted a mock-up of a Mr Men book called "Mr Brexit" while another commented: "hope your dreams come true" and shared a mock-up image of Trump winning a beauty pageant.

Several of his supporters commented Brexit had "given freedom" to the UK adding they hoped to see the same in the US.
