You get two keypads (handy if you want one by the front door and another upstairs), eight contact sensors for doors and windows, two motion detectors, a base station, and a range extender. That’s enough coverage for a multi-story house or a smaller place with lots of entry points. Setup is as simple as peeling and sticking most of the sensors, and the app walks you through the rest. The keypads let you arm and disarm the system without using your phone every time, which is especially useful if you have guests or kids. And with eight contact sensors, you’ll likely have enough to cover all the vulnerable entry points. That said, this kit doesn't include any cameras, so if you want eyes on the front door or backyard, you'll need to add those separately.

There’s no monthly fee required for basic functionality, but some features, like professional monitoring, cellular backup, and notification history, are locked behind a subscription, which runs from $4.99/month to $20/month. Whether or not that’s worth it depends on how hands-off you want to be. Battery backup is built into the base station in case of power outages, and the whole setup is compatible with Alexa, so you can arm it with a voice command if your hands are full.
