Prime Day 2025 is here from Tuesday, July 8 to Friday, July 11, and Lifehacker is sharing the best sales based on product reviews, comparisons, and price-tracking tools.
How much are you willing to pay for the perfect piece of toast? If you're like me, your toaster cost maybe $20 or $30 bucks. How expensive could coils that get hot possibly be? Oh, ye of small imagination. If you'verecently been watching cooking YouTube like I have, you know just how high the ceiling on toaster prices can get. Meet Balmuda's "The Toaster." When not on sale, this thing costs more than $300. For Prime Day, it's $247.
It's still a toaster, remember.
This isn't even a combination air fryer or anything like that, it just toasts (you can use it like a toaster oven for things like cookies, but the capacity is pretty small). But according to my colleague Sam Stone over at Mashable, it might just be worth it. According to Stone's review, the Balmuda "really can deliver best in market results."
The trick is that, rather than relying only on hot coils, it adds in steam and by-the-second temperature control to help heat penetrate your bread, making for a consistent toast that stays fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. And in addition to typical temperature settings, it also comes with a number of programmable presets, allowing for easy heating of sandwich bread, artisan bread, pizza, and pastries.
I haven't tried it myself, but as someone who has definitely snacked on plain toast, I'm tempted. Everyone I've watched actually use it (on YouTube) says it's more than just hype. Maybe it's time I move beyond the cheapest possible toaster available to me? Maybe I don't know what I'm missing.
The catch is that using this over a regular toaster does introduce a few extra steps. You need to reload it with the correct amount of water each time you toast, and toasting times are a few minutes longer than I would like. But if you're already at the point where you're willing to spend hundreds on a toaster, I doubt a few extra minutes will dissuade you.

Best Buy’s Prime Day competition sale, “Black Friday in July,” runs through Sunday, July 13 and has some of the best tech sales online. It’s an especially good option if you’re a My Best Buy “Plus” or “Total” member.
Home Depot extended its 4th of July sale through at least July 9, competing with some amazing deals of its own. It’s an especially good option if you’re looking for power tools, appliances, or outdoor equipment.
