Late Actress Nkechi Nweje laid to rest in Anambra, Nollywood veterans and Peter Obi in attendanc

Veteran Nollywood actress Nkechi Nweje has been laid to rest today in her hometown in Anambra State, as family, friends, and colleagues gathered to bid her a final farewell. The actress, who passed away on March 21, 2025, was remembered for her remarkable contributions to the Nigerian movie industry. While the cause of her death remains undisclosed, her sudden passing left many in shock and mourning. Todays burial ceremony witnessed a significant turnout from the Nollywood community, with several veteran actors and filmmakers in attendance to pay their last respects. Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, was also present at the funeral, further highlighting the impact the late actress had on her community and the film industry. Nkechi Nweje was known for her strong presence in traditional and contemporary Nollywood roles, often portraying maternal or authoritative characters with depth and authenticity.
