The blogging platform will finally get HTTPS support, as part of the company's HTTPS Everywhere campaign, which previously added HTTPS support for Google's search engine, Gmail, Drive, Calendar, and AdWords, most recently.

The company is taking these steps primarily to protect users living in countries with tight censorship laws, HTTPS allowing bloggers to write content without being blocked by ISPs, or having their communications tampered with.

HTTPS also allows Google to protect Blogger readers as well, the protocol preventing traffic from being redirected outside unauthorized sources and injected with malware or other malicious code.

The change to HTTPS is not going to be offered to all users at the same time, being currently only opt-in. If you want to enable it, just follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Log into your Blogger account.

Step 2: Click the blog you want to add HTTPS support to.

Step 3: Go to your "Settings" section.

Step 4: Find the "HTTPS settings" option and select "Yes" from the drop-down that's shown next to "HTTPS Availability."

This is it.

Unfortunately, as Google explains, blogs that run on a custom domain are not supported in this first version
