Jigawa State High Court 4 sitting in Dutse has sentenced one Isa Ahmad to 15 years imprisonment for raping his friend’s wife.

Delivering the judgement, Justice Ahmed Muhammad Abubakar said the suspect was arraigned before the court for the offence of house trespass and rape.

He said the offence is contrary to Section 282 and 348 respectively.

In his judgement, Justice A. M. Abubakar said the prosecution counsel proved his case beyond a reasonable doubt.

He said the court used confessional statements and two witnesses to convict the suspect.

“The court convicted and jailed him five years imprisonment for trespass and 10 years for rape both punishable under Section 282 & 348 respectively,” he said.

Earlier the prosecution counsel told the court that, “the convict earlier come down from Potaskum to Dankunama village, Jahun local government area of Jigawa State for a visit to his best friend whom they were together for quite period of time.”

“Later, the convict friend left for a travel and the convict make a U-turn entered matrimonial home of his best friend and raped his wife of 20 years old.”
