A 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl in Idoani, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The suspect, Adeniyi Adeleke, who lives in the same house as the young girl, was accused of luring her into his room and having carnal knowledge of her.

The teenage girl who was said to be writhing in pain informed her mother, who brought her to the hospital, where it was determined that she had been raped.

According to the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, the victim’s mother reported the incident to the police station, after which the suspect was arrested and detained.

According to Odunlami, the suspect confessed to the crime, saying he planned to use the girl for a money ritual, with a ring and red clothes discovered in his room.

She said “On 16th April 2022, at about 14:40hrs, one Bosede Alo of Idoani reported at the Idoani Division, that sometimes in the month of March 2022, at about 15: 00hrs, one Adeniyi Adeleke, 27 years called her ten-year-old daughter to his room and forcefully have carnal knowledge of her.

“On receipt the information, Detectives swung into action and arrested the suspect, upon interrogation he confessed to have committed the crime that he wanted to use her for money ritual.”
