iPhone 12 to Feature 6GB of RAM

The next-generation iPhone could come with a welcome upgrade in terms of memory, according to a notable Apple analyst.

Rumors that reached the web earlier this year suggested at least one of the three iPhones that launched this year was supposed to come with 6GB RAM, but the trio eventually landed with just 4GB.

According to a note sent to investors by Barclays analysts, Apple will upgrade the next-generation iPhone to 6GB RAM, with these models to also feature rear-facing 3D sensing and mmWave support for 5G, as per MacRumors.

However, not all three iPhones launching in September next year will receive this RAM upgrade. Only iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will launch with 6GB RAM, as the base model, which will presumably be called iPhone 12, will feature just 4GB RAM, just like its predecessor.

Second-generation iPhone SE on its way
The analysts also shared more details about the next-generation iPhone SE, which is projected to launch sometime in the first months of 2020.

The device will apparently enter production as soon as February, and the debut is expected at some point in March or April.

iPhone SE 2 will come with a design that reminds of the iPhone 8, and will use a similar body with a 4.7-inch screen and Touch ID. This means Face ID won’t make it to this new-generation iPhone SE, as Apple wants to stick with this original approach for lower costs.

However, more upgrades will happen under the hood, as iPhone SE 2 will use the Apple A13 chip and 3GB RAM. On the other hand, more premium features wouldn’t be offered, as Apple wants the starting price tag to be set at approximately $399 to be a very compelling product in the majority of markets.
