"Poor health condition" stalls arraignment of popular Nnewi-based native doctor, Mmuo Mmili Afulu Anya

The arraignment of Nnewi-based native doctor, Ikechukwu Ezenagu, popularly known as Mmuo Mmili Afulu Anya, has been adjourned to 3rd June, 2026, after the Anambra State High Court in Awka presided over by Justice Jude Obiora, found him unfit to take his plea due to poor health condition. Before the defendant was brought into the courtroom on Friday, April 24, 2026, there was a back-and-forth over his health condition between the prosecution team, led by the Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, and counsel to the defendant, Barrister Kingsley Awuka. Addressing journalists after the court proceedings, prosecution counsel, Nweke, said the state government is ready to proceed with the case, while counsel to the defendant, Awuka, expressed hope that his client would be medically fit to take his plea on the next adjourned date. The defendant, who was arrested on Thursday, 12th March, 2026, in Nnewi, is being prosecuted for offences under the Anambra State Homeland Security Law. The post "Poor health condition" stalls arraignment of popular Nnewi-based native doctor, Mmuo Mmili Afulu Anya appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
