Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho joins Celtic on free transfer
Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho has joined Celtic on a free transfer after the termination of his contract at Sevilla. Iheanacho had been in talks to join Brendan Rodgers' side on Monday evening following his release by Sevilla earlier that day, but they were not completed in time to beat the clock and the 28-year-old had to wait until 11.06pm on Tuesday night for his transfer to go through. Manager Brendan Rodgers, who previously coached Iheanacho during his time at Leicester City, expressed delight at reuniting with the Nigerian forward and backed him to make an instant impact at Celtic Park. I know Kelechi so well and what he can bring to the team. He is such a talented player, with great ability, athleticism and work-rate. I am sure he will love being at Celtic and I believe our fans will love what he brings. He has great experience and he is right in his peak years so he can be a great signing for us. I am sure he will make a big contribution to the team. Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho on a one-year deal, subject to international clearance, with the club having the option of a further year.#WelcomeKelechi | #CelticFC Celtic Football Club (@CelticFC) September 2, 2025 Iheanacho arrives in Scotland with vast experience across England, Spain, and Europe.
