A man and his three-year-old child have been killed in a Christmas Day car crash. The incident involved a single car driven by the man on the A421 near Bedford at 11.10pm. A woman in her 30s was also in the vehicle.

Emergency services were called after the collision on the eastbound carriageway of the A421 near Marston, Bedfordshire, at 11.10pm on Christmas Day.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene and a three-year-old child was later airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, but died shortly afterwards. The woman was taken to the same hospital, and remains in a serious condition. All three are from Bedfordshire Sky News reports.

Sergeant Simon Goldsmith said: "I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision to call police. Any death on the road is tragic but this incident is even more poignant given the day it occurred. Next of kin have been informed and our specialist family liaison officers are providing support to relatives."
