Arsenal missed the chance to go top of the Premier League as Cuco Martina's stunning strike, Shane Long's double and Jose Fonte's header helped Southampton end a six-game unbeaten run at St Mary's. The Curacao international struck from 30 yards to open the scoring before Long and Fonte added second half goals to down the Gunners, who remain two points behind leaders Leicester City.

Claudio Ranieri's side suffered just their second league loss of the campaign as they were narrowly defeated by Liverpool at Anfield. Substitute Christian Benteke scored the only goal in the second half to claim The Reds' first top flight win since November.

The Belgium defender had missed the last eight games with a calf problem but came on a second half substitute, before a recurrence of the problem curtailed his cameo appearance after just 10 minutes.
