The Galaxy S25 series is here, but Samsung’s January 2025 Galaxy Unpacked event wasn’t without its surprises. ?
Alongside the widely expected Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra, the company also teased a fourth model, known as the Galaxy S25 Edge.?
It marks Samsung’s first return to the Edge branding since 2016’s Galaxy S7 Edge, although a lot has changed since then.?
Here’s everything we know so far about the brand-new entry in Samsung’s flagship phone lineup.?
When will the Galaxy S25 Edge be released?
Samsung teased the Galaxy S25 Edge at the end of its Galaxy Unpacked event on 22 January 2025.?
But while stablemates the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra began shipping on 7 February, there’s no official word on when the Edge will come to market.?
Earlier this year, OnLeaks and Smartprix published renders that look a lot like the S25 Edge, despite branding it as the S25 Slim. In the article, they suggest a launch will take place in May 2025. A 9to5Google report suggested slightly earlier, stating that a Samsung representative said the phone would be coming “around” April.
An appearance on the Geekbench database, as reported by MySmartPrice, adds to the feeling that a launch is just around the corner.
Industry sources speaking to South Korean publication Seoul Economic Daily claimed that the S25 Edge could hit the market on 16 April. According to this report, Samsung won’t host a full-blown launch event for the Slim device, opting instead for an online-only Unpacked event.
Dutch site Nieuwe Mobiel agreed, claiming the Galaxy S25 Edge will launch in Europe on 15 April, with the announcement happening globally the following day on 16 April, possibly due to time zone differences. At the time of writing, that seems almost impossible.
Despite these indications, some sources widely suggest that the phone might only go on sale in May. A new report from South Korea’s ETNews backs this up, suggesting the launch has now been postponed to May or June, due to leadership changes within Samsung’s Device eXperience (DX) division. Samsung has reportedly informed the country’s three major telecoms of the change, and tipsters Ice Universe and Max Jambor have corroborated the delay.
Now, SamMobile has put out an exclusive report stating that the device will be launched on 13 May – it seems like this is the most likely release date.
That might only apply to the UK and 38 other countries, though, if a report from PhoneArena is to be believed. Significantly, the list doesn’t include the US, while leaker Evan Blass said in a private post on X that the phone “will almost certainly not be offered through US carriers”.?
Reliable tipster Ice Universe suggested that after its launch, the Galaxy S25 Edge will only be available in South Korea and China for a while. Only then will it roll out to wider Europe. It’s unclear how accurate this is, since we’ve already seen leaked European prices for the handset.
How much will the Galaxy S25 Edge cost?
Samsung has yet to reveal officially how much the Galaxy S25 Edge might cost. However, the tech giant slipped up and accidentally shared the prices on its own website in Canada. The 256GB version of Galaxy S25 Edge will retail for CAD 1,678 (roughly $1,200/€1,100), while the 512GB variant will be CAD 1,858 (about $1,350/€1,200).
This lines up with what we’ve expected from other leaks and rumours. The same Evan Blass X post as before suggested it would be priced “between the S25 Plus and Ultra”.? In terms of starting prices, that means anywhere between £999/$999.99 and £1,249/$1,299.99.
There were also more precise rumours on the price. An exclusive report from Android Headlines says we should now expect the 256GB variant to cost between €1,200 and €1,300, with a 512GB model ranging from €1,300 to €1,400. Leaked pricing from Italian online store Zanetti lists the 256GB model for €1,362 and the 512GB model for €1,488.
A conflicting report from Korean ETNews suggests the final price might be $100/€100 lower than this based on the alleged starting price of KRW 1,500,000 in Korea.
This means that while the S25 Edge could be marginally more expensive than the base Galaxy S25, it should remain more affordable than the Ultra model.
What will the Galaxy S25 Edge specs be?
Design & Build
So far, Samsung has only officially offered a brief look at the S25 Edge’s design. It shows a phone that looks a lot like the regular Galaxy S25 – only even thinner.

First-look content from the likes of The Verge and GSMArena reveals an impressively svelte design, with the phone barely thicker than the USB-C charging port.?
However, the OnLeaks and Smartprix report also suggests a few other key specs, most notably a thickness of just 6.4mm. That’s significantly thinner than even the regular S25 (7.2mm), and one of the slimmest phones around.
More recent information from Korean YouTuber The Sinza suggests that the phone could be as slim as 5.84mm (closer to the 5.75mm Tecno Spark Slim), making it the slimmest model in the lineup. The device is expected to weigh around 163g. This has since been seemingly confirmed in leaked marketing materials shared by Evleaks.

According to SamMobile, the S25 Edge will combine its aluminium frame with a ceramic back. This is supposedly for “better durability” and is a significant shift away from other Galaxy S25 series phones, which all have a glass back. As seemingly confirmed in leaked marketing materials shared by Evleaks, the front of the phone will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 – offering additional durability alongside the titanium bezel.
However, a newer report from well-known tipster Ice Universe suggests that the S25 Edge might instead use a titanium alloy frame. An Android Headlines report seems to corroborate this, suggesting that each of the colour names will include “Titanium” like the S25 Ultra. You can expect: Titanium Icy Blue, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Jet Black. WinFuture also backs this rumour.
In an interview with TechRadar, Samsung’s Mobile Experience VP of Product and Marketing in the UK, Annika Bizon, explained that the phone’s stunning form factor would not come at the expense of durability:
I can’t say too much, but what I will say is that [the Edge] is about beautiful form factor. And there are two points I want to make. One is that it’s absolutely stunning. And if you think about the technology that’s going into that size of space, it’s pretty impressive. The second thing I’ll say concerns durability. With anything slim, durability has to come as part of the package. Those are the two features that are exciting for us. Well, I know durability isn’t exciting – but it’s really important. So watch this space, because there are some exciting things to come regarding this phone.

The Sinza
However, a rather notable design quirk has emerged in recent hands?on reviews. Korean YouTuber The Sinza showcased third?party dummy units that revealed an asymmetrical placement of the USB?C port and SIM tray. The gap to the front edge of the phone is significantly thicker than that to the rear. You can read more about it in our news story on the port’s “wonky” placement.
Display
In terms of screen size, the OnLeaks and Smartprix report suggests somewhere between 6.7- and 6.8 inches. Trusted leaker Ice Universe suggests it’ll be “almost the same as S25+”, which has a 6.7-inch panel.
Ice Universe and WinFuture have (separately) also since confirmed that the S25 Edge’s 6.7-inch display will offer 2K resolution. The screen will almost certainly still be a 120Hz OLED, too.
Additionally, the Edge is set to benefit from an ultra?thin bezel, reportedly as slim as those found on the Galaxy S25 Ultra .
Cameras
It’ll supposedly match the S25 Ultra in getting a 200Mp main lens, 50Mp ultrawide and 12Mp selfie. The third rear lens appears to be missing from first-look content at Unpacked, but OnLeaks and Smartprix said it’ll be a 50Mp telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom.? The 200Mp main sensor has seemingly been confirmed in leaked marketing materials shared by Evleaks.

However, conflicting rumours from PandaFlash on X and MySmartPrice suggest the phone will have just two rear cameras – a 200Mp main and a 12Mp ultrawide. This is supposedly based on internal prototype information though, so might change on the final version.
This is reiterated in a subsequent post from the same user, which highlights several supposedly “confirmed” specs:

That’s now been seemingly confirmed by WinFuture, which claims the dual-camera setup is final, with the 200Mp main sensor being Samsung’s ISOCELL HP2, paired with a 12Mp ultrawide.
As expected, the OnLeaks and Smartprix report says the Edge will follow its S25 stablemates in getting a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset – likely the overclocked ‘for Galaxy’ version – which will be paired with 12GB of RAM.?
That RAM spec is now backed up by WinFuture, which claims the phone will ship with 12GB across both 256GB and 512GB variants. No 1TB option is expected. This has since been seemingly confirmed in leaked marketing materials shared by Evleaks.
However, a big battery capacity question mark remains. According to Abhishek Yadav on X and MySmartPrice, the phone will only have a 3900mAh battery, while Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station suggested it’d be somewhere in the 3000-4000mAh range prior to its initial reveal.
WinFuture supports the 3900mAh claim and notes it’s 100mAh less than the regular S25. It’s expected to charge at a maximum of 25W, according to Yadav, which is a step down from the 45W on the S25+ and Ultra models.
This is a real concern, but hopefully, the efficiency of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip will help to make up for it.

As GSMArena reports, a listing believed to be the phone has appeared on China’s 3C database and appears to show max charging speeds of 25W, something Yadav is also reporting. That’s the same as the regular Galaxy S25, but a step down from the 45W on the S25+ and S25 Ultra.
Other key specs are likely to be the same as the other S25 phones, including 15W Qi2 wireless (with caveats) charging, plus One UI 7 software (based on Android 15) and seven years of both OS and security updates.
Two accessories have already surfaced: a silicone case and a Kindsuit Case. The latter is expected to feature an inner liner, much like previous versions.
