Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, accusing them of lacking sincerity in their recent political moves.  Wike warned that if the party continues on its current path, it risks repeating the mistakes of 2023 and losing the 2027 presidential election. Speaking during a media briefing in Abuja, Wike reacted to Atikus recent efforts to form a coalition of opposition parties aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu. The initiative has faced resistance, with the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Governor Seyi Makinde, publicly stating the forum would not support the coalition.Those who are calling for a coalition are not being truthful to themselves, Wike said. Even those within the party are acting out of self-interest. The PDP Governors Forum, for example, is not sincereneither to themselves nor to the party. Wike recounted calling Governor Makinde after watching his appearance on a political talk show on Thursday .  I told him, youre not being honest about some of the issues discussed, Wike said. One of the main reasons PDP lost in 2023 was impunitypeople believed they could do whatever they wanted and ignored the partys constitution, especially on the issue of power rotation between the North and South. He warned that the party was now on the verge of repeating those same errors.Youre making the same mistake again. If the Governors Forum continues with this level of impunity, then what happened in 2023 will certainly happen again in 2027. Wike emphasized that the PDP Governors Forum is merely a pressure groupnot an official organ of the partyand cautioned against allowing it to influence the National Working Committee.If this impunity is not addressed, it will have serious consequences for the future of the party, he concluded. The post Presidency: PDP Governors Forum is not sincere.
