Ekiti court remands woman for allegedly tearing boyfriendâ??s scrotum

An Ekiti State Magistrates Court, Ado Ekiti District, has remanded a 20-year-old woman, Joy Ikoja, for allegedly inflicting a wound on her boyfriend, Ibrahim Usman's manhood.  Ikoja was arraigned on Tuesday by the police command in Ekiti State, for unlawfully tearing her boyfriends scrotal sac. The police prosecutor, Inspector Adeboye Adesegun, alleged that the defendant committed the offence at about 8p.m on April 12 at Irona area of Ado-Ekiti. "The defendant did unlawfully inflict a wound on one Ibrahim Usman by tearing his scrotal sac," the prosecutor said. "The defendant on the same date, time and place, did conduct herself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace in the society. The offence committed is punishable under sections 186, 255 256(a) and 181(d) of Criminal Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021." The prosecutor urged the court to refuse the defendants bail, saying she might likely jump bail.  But counsel to the defendant, David Ogbede, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, assuring that she would not jump bail, as she was presumed innocent under the law. The Magistrate, Mr Olatomiwa Daramola, in his ruling, refused bail to the defendant and ordered that she should be remanded at the Correctional custody in Ado Ekiti. The magistrate adjourned the case till April 22 for a hearing.  The post Ekiti court remands woman for allegedly tearing boyfriends scrotum appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
