A 24-year-old suspected cultist have been apprehended by men of the Nigeria Navy, Forward Operating Base, FOB, Igbokoda, Ondo State.
The suspect identified as Tosin Wandele, was accused of carrying out deadly cult related activities in Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.
While parading the 24-year-old suspect at the Naval Base in the state, the Commanding Officer of the Base, Captain Wasuku Alushi, disclosed that Wandele had for a while been on the watch list of security agencies in the state.
Alushi added that the arrest of the suspect was part of the commitment to sustain the fight against cultism and other crimes within the area.
According to the Commanding Officer, the suspect and others currently at large have been harassing and intimidating residents with dangerous weapons.
He maintained that the arrest was made possible “based on credible intelligence, we responded and effected the arrest of the suspect, Tosin Wandele”.
“It would also interest you to know that the suspect was confirmed by the Head of the Vigilante in Igbokoda to be a notorious and known cultist who has been terrorising the people of Igbokoda for a long time.
“Accordingly, he (the suspect) has since been handed over to the Department of State Service for further investigation.
“”It is pertinent to state that the base has continued to collaborate with other security agencies in Ondo State in stemming the tide of cultism within its area of operation.”
