Arsenal to sign Bundesliga centre-back

Arsenal could reportedly make a fresh attempt to sign Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig when the transfer window reopens in January.
The north London side have endured a tough 2020/21 campaign and they are currently languishing in the 14th position with only 13 points.

That constitutes their worst start to a Premier League season at the current stage and Todofichajes claims that they could spend on new players this winter.

Gabriel Magalhaes has made a difference at the heart of the defence, but it is reported that the hierarchy may look to sign another central defender.

It is added that manager Mikel Arteta has urged the board to make an approach for Konate, who has impressed for Leipzig this term after overcoming a long-term injury.

Konate, 21, has been a regular starter alongside Dayot Upamecano for the Bundesliga outfit. He has a contract until June 2023, but has a release clause worth £45m which can be triggered in any transfer window.

He was previously on the Gunners' radar during the summer of 2019. He endured a tough 2019/20 season where he missed more than 30 games due to a torn muscle fibre in his leg.
