To lead the captive power generation and energy management function at the plant, ensuring 100% reliable, cost-effective, and efficient power supply to support cement production, while driving operational excellence, sustainability, and compliance with Dangote standards.

Key Responsibilities

Power Generation & Supply Reliability


Oversee operations of Captive Power Plants (CPP) (coal/gas-based) and Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) systems
Ensure uninterrupted power supply to kiln lines, grinding units, and auxiliary systems
Achieve optimal Plant Load Factor (PLF) and generation efficiency


Maintenance & Equipment Reliability


Lead preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance programs
Ensure high availability of:

Boilers
Turbines
Generators
Balance of Plant (BOP) systems


Drive root cause analysis (RCA) for breakdowns and implement corrective actions


Energy Efficiency & Performance


Optimize specific power consumption (kWh/ton of cement)
Improve heat rate and thermal efficiency
Lead plant-wide energy optimization initiatives aligned with Dangote benchmarks
Monitor energy dashboards and performance analytics


 Cost & Fuel Optimization


Manage power generation cost (fuel, operations, maintenance)
Optimize fuel mix (coal, LPFO, gas, alternative fuels where applicable)
Drive cost-per-kWh reduction strategies
Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and cost controls


Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)


Champion Dangote’s Zero Harm safety culture
Ensure full compliance with:

Nigerian/African regulatory requirements
Dangote HSE policies


Manage emissions, ash handling, and environmental controls
Lead safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations


Projects, Innovation & Sustainability


Lead power plant expansion and upgrade projects
Support WHR optimization and carbon reduction initiatives
Drive digital transformation (automation, predictive analytics, IoT monitoring)
Implement global best practices in energy management


Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement


Build and lead a high-performance engineering and operations team
Provide coaching, training, and succession planning
Collaborate with:

Production (Kiln & Cement Mills)
Central Engineering & Corporate Energy Teams
Manage OEMs, contractors, and service providers




Qualifications & Experience

 Education


Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
COREN registration (Nigeria) or equivalent preferred
MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification (advantage)


 Experience


15–20 years in power generation or cement manufacturing
Minimum 5–8 years in a leadership role (HOD / GM level)
Strong experience with:

Captive power plants (CPP)
Waste Heat Recovery systems (critical for Dangote plants)
Large-scale continuous process industries
