There’s nothing fishy about this Google Pixel Watch 5 leak

A fresh Google Pixel Watch 5 leak only offers up a small amount of detail on the forthcoming smartwatch refresh, but at least it’s kosher.

Four variants of the Google Pixel Watch 5 have been spotted on India’s BIS certification platform by XpertPick.

Model numbers G0F3Y, G1XJ6, G25QD, and GFW3R would seem to cover the usual spread of Wi-Fi and LTE variants across two size options – likely 41mm and 45mm, if Google sticks to the Pixel Watch 4 and Watch 3 sizes.

That’s your lot for information, with nary a battery spec or device measurement to speak of. But at least this tip seems to be genuine.

Earlier in the week, we reported on the spurious claims of Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford.

The executive claimed to have a friend who had discovered a Pixel Watch 5 at the bottom of the sea whilst scuba diving.

Everything about the story is fishy, not least the fact that Pitchford’s X account has a history of engagement farming. He then said due to the ‘magic of the internet’, he’d managed to locate its owner.

What we know about the Pixel Watch 5 so far

Other than this, we haven’t heard all that much about the Pixel Watch 5. Back in late 2024, we heard that Google was building a custom-built Tensor chip exclusively for its Pixel Watch series, and that it would be ready in time for the Pixel Watch 5 in 2026.

It was claimed at the time that Google’s so-called ‘NPT’ chip would focus on efficiency above all else, with a unique CPU configuration that involves one Arm Cortex-A78 core and two Arm Cortex-A55 cores.

We’re expecting the Google Pixel Watch 5 to show up alongside the Google Pixel 11 series of phones, most likely sometime in August.

Expect it to work in tandem with the new Fitbit Air tracker, just as the Pixel Watch 4 currently does, offering you greater fitness tracking flexibility.

Of course, Google will be hoping to retain its top spot in our best smartwatch chart, but it will have to go up against the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 series, among others.
