Dr. Dre is reportedly worth over $700 million, so he is clearly not hurting for money. The legendary producer is forgoing collecting royalties from his latest album Compton: A Soundtrack in order to donate his profits from the project to help build a new performing arts and entertainment facility for the children in Compton.

The announcement about Dre?s contribution was made during Zane Lowe?s Beats 1 Radio program. The creator of tracks like ?Nuthin? But A ?G? Thang,? ?The Real Slim Shady,? and ?In Da Club? will be working with Compton Mayor Aja Brown to complete the new space.

?I feel it?s the right thing to do and I hope everybody appreciates the work I put into this album,? said Dre.

He added, ?I?ve been really trying to do something special for Compton and just couldn?t quite figure out what it was. [Brown] actually had this idea and she was already in the process of working on it. I said, ?Boom, this is what we should do.?

The city of Compton could be looking at a nice endowment from Dre. Compton: A Soundtrack is expected to sell over 300,000 copies in its first week alone. The LP hits stores on August 7).
