Yaya Toure, has led his Ivorian teammates into the finals of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations as the Elephants on Wednesday evening posted a 3-1 victory over Congo DR.

This is the second time in three years that they will be going this far having only been denied by Nigeria who sent them packing in the quarter finals of the last edition in South Africa.

Yaya Toure set the tone for the night with his 20th minute superb goal that came off a long range finely-struck effort into the back of the net.

However, Ivory Coast?s lead only lasted for three minutes as Dieumerci Mbokani leveled the scores by converting a penalty kick awarded to his side.

Gervinho then added a vital second goal before the break for Ivory Coast as they enjoyed a 2-1 lead by the end of the first half.

The fate of Congo DR was finally decided in the 68th minute when Wilfried Kanon gave the Ivoirians a two-goal cushion that they held on to till the final whistle was blown.

Ivory Coast will now wait to face whoever emerges winner in the Thursday?s other semifinal game between Ghana and hosts Equatorial Guinea.
